2025 HSMW International Week

Integrated Internationalisation: Levering Artificial Intelligence

Mittweida University of Applied Sciences welcome students, administrators and academics from HSMW partner universities and their collaborators and internationalisation champions as well as everyone interested in integrating internationalisation in teaching, research and third mission activities to its 2025 International Week “Integrated Internationalisation: Levering Artificial Intelligence”.

About the 2025 International Week in Mittweida

The 2025 HSMW International Week focuses on leveraging digitalisation and artificial intelligence to advance integrated internationalisation. The digital transformation of society has profoundly impacted international education, enabling the digitalisation of various aspects of the higher education internationalisation process. Examples include virtual student exchanges, remote postgraduate supervision, international research collaborations facilitated by technology, and data-driven partnership management. In recent years, however, there has been a noticeable shift, with stakeholders refocusing on the physical mobility of students and academics. While virtual exchanges and physical mobility are often seen as contrasting approaches to internationalisation, the aim is to explore a different perspective.

During the 2025 HSMW International Week, the focus will be on how an integrated approach - combining physical mobility with virtual exchanges and other digital transformation elements - can strengthen a student-centered, inclusive internationalisation process. This approach seeks to empower all members of the university community to enhance their intercultural and international skills.

The goal is to conceptualise how the latest advancements in digital transformation, such as AI-driven translation, academic advising, and partnership management tools, can be effectively utilised for this purpose. Through interactive formats, participants and guests will co-create ideas to strategically align digitalisation with internationalisation, thus contributing to university development. This integrated approach aligns with the German University Internationalisation Strategy for 2024–2034.
