Refugees
Please find all information in Arabic here.
Refugees can apply to study at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. The university is open to international students and committed to supporting refugees.
You can apply if you belong to one of the following groups:
- Recognized refugees
- Asylum seekers in the open procedure
- Holders of a Duldung.
An application can be made for any degree programme offered at Mittweida University.
The criteria and application documents for university admission are the same as for all other applicants.
Refugees are admitted to study if they have a university entrance qualification and the required language certificates.
The language prerequisites are the same as for all other applicants. Enrollment without these proofs is not possible.
There are the following special regulations and additional offers for refugees:
If individual documents cannot be presented as required, a reason must be given, which will be evaluated by the university. An explanation must be given as to whether an attempt has been made to obtain a duplicate. Substitute documents may be submitted such as a student record book, student ID, or examination certificates. These documents must be submitted as an officially certified copy of the original and with an officially certified German or English translation. The University carries out a plausibility check on this basis.
If the proof of studies in the home country is missing completely and no substitute documents can be submitted, at least the secondary school certificate from the home country must be submitted, also as a certified copy of the original with an officially certified German or English translation. It will then be checked whether this certificate allows university admission in the home country. If the home country also demands a university entrance examination, this examination must be proven. An application without a secondary school certificate is not possible.
The university decides on the basis of these documents whether admission to the study programme can be granted. It may be stipulated that attendance at the university's Studienkolleg (preparatory course) is required prior to commencement of studies and that a one-year study-preparatory FSP course (Feststellungsprüfungskurs) must be completed there.
If a course of study has already been partially completed in the home country and all evidence of this is missing, it may be decided that the external FSP examination at the Studienkolleg of the university and/or an aptitude test/examination in the faculty must be completed as a university-internal examination procedure.
When applying to the University, a placement in a higher semester can also be requested. For this purpose, a subject overview with the list of grades (transcript of records) must be submitted as an officially certified copy of the original and with an officially certified German or English translation. The application goes through the same formal examination procedure as for enrollment in the first semester. If enrollment in a higher semester is formally possible, the applicant receives the application for recognition of examination achievements and the link to the website with the module catalogue of the study programme. In the application, he/she must enter which subjects of his/her studies are equivalent to the modules of the study programme of Mittweida University of Applied Sciences from his/her point of view. It is advantageous if more detailed descriptions of the study contents (synopsis) at the home university are also submitted. The application will then be reviewed and decided upon by the faculty. If no subject overview with the list of grades can be submitted, an aptitude test must be taken in the faculty.
