The Team
About us
At the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida (HSMW), the umbrella of Diversity Management bundles the structural units that deal with the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity. These are the following areas:
- Gender Equality
- Service for people with disabilities / impairments
- Family-friendly university
- Occupational health management
- Internationalization
Through the five pillars of diversity management, university members are supported in bringing their diverse life and professional experiences, perspectives and values to their studies or research and work.
Our goals
The main goal of diversity management at HSMW is to make science and education equally accessible to all people, and to do so completely independently of gender, age, ethnic origin, skin color, social class affiliation, mental and physical abilities, family situation, sexual orientation, and a variety of other personal characteristics.
The Diversity Management Concept of HSMW is a joint concept of the five structural units that regulates their close cooperation in order to sustainably improve the organizational culture of the HSMW in the direction of diversity, equal opportunities and anti-discrimination.
Through the measures bundled under the common umbrella of diversity management, the conscious handling of diversity and its design should lead to more equal opportunities in the long term and promote a university culture that values diversity among its university members. This creates a unifying identity (sense of "we"). Diversity management at all levels of the university thus not only generates respectful and collaborative interaction in everyday university life, but also enables different people to jointly use their expertise, innovative ideas and scientific potential for themselves and the university.
