Festival of diversity 2024
From April, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences will be presenting the traveling exhibition "#Weil Vielfalt fetzt". As part of this, the university's Diversity Management team wants to show diversity in all its facets and make it tangible through various offers. The diversity festival at our university is intended to show how diverse people can be and how important understanding, acceptance and equal opportunities are.
All employees, students, lecturers and researchers at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences are invited to get to know different personalities on site, exchange ideas with them and learn about the special challenges these people face. You can also take the opportunity to get to know the Diversity Management team in person.
Date and place
The Festival of Diversity will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 12:00 to 16:00 on the 1st and 2nd floor of Haus 39 (Zentrum Medien und Soziale Arbeit, Bahnhofstraße 15, 09648 Mittweida).

Hands-on courses
We offer you the opportunity to change your perspective through hands-on courses or self-awareness courses. What challenges do those affected have to face? How does it feel?
The hands-on courses start at 12:30 in the foyer on the 1st and 2nd floors.
Handicap (1st floor)
- Self-awareness wheelchair
- Self-awareness of visual impairment
- Self-awareness blindness
House 39 is explored from the perspective of a person with mobility and/or visual impairments. You will find out how barrier-free the building is and what difficulties arise in everyday life. The offer is accompanied by people with disabilities who share their own experiences and are available to answer questions.
Ageing (2nd floor)
- Self-awareness of ageing and dementia
Our society is getting older and older and people are expected to work longer until they retire. Is that possible? What are the difficulties involved?
Adiction (2nd floor)
- Self-awareness drug intoxication
The many challenges of today's society lead to addictive behavior in some people. What dangers can be associated with this? What help is available?
The hands-on courses are organized in cooperation with the
Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfe Sachsen e. V. (LAG SH SACHSEN), the WohnXperium e.V. der TU-Chemnitz, the Landesinitiative Demenz Sachsen e.V. and the Suchtstelle Sachsen.
Body-based methods for coping with personal life situations
Teresa Stelzer, relaxation and Feldenkrais teacher from Chemnitz, will be on site with her "Ü-Werkstatt" and will use body-based methods to demonstrate ways of mastering personal challenges. You will be surprised by her solutions.
The body-based methods for coping with personal life situations will take place from 12:30 to 14:30 in the foyer on the 2nd floor.
Opening of the traveling exhibition "'Weil Vielfalt fetzt"
From 01.04.2024, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences will be presenting the traveling exhibition „#Weil Vielfalt fetzt“ ("#Because diversity rocks"). We would like to open the traveling exhibition in House 39 during the Festival of Diversity.
The traveling exhibition shows people with and without disabilities who are committed to inclusive coexistence in Saxony in their very own way. People are portrayed who experience new opportunities and possibilities through inclusive offers or who encounter obstacles and problems due to a lack of inclusion. Exploring the exhibition enables an interactive examination of different realities of life. The traveling exhibition will be on display in Building 39 until 29.04.2024.
The traveling exhibition will open at 12.10 p.m. in the foyer on the 2nd floor.
The project #WeilVielfaltFetzt is a project of the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfe Sachsen e.V. (LAG SH).
Awarding of the "Ingrid-von-Reyher-Preis"
Mittweida University of Applied Sciences will award the Ingrid-von-Reyher-Preis for the fourth time in 2024. The award ceremony will take place as part of the Festival of Diversity.
This Prize honors current or planned projects, plans and concepts as well as special commitment to promoting equal opportunities for women and men. The focus of this year's competition is on young academics who are active in research and teaching and who contribute to the HSMW in a variety of ways. The "Ingrid-von-Reyher-Preis" is endowed with € 1,000.00. Further information can be found here.

Awarding of the Master's scholarships of the gender equality department
In 2024, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences will award five scholarships to support female students on Master's degree programs in all faculties and institutes at the university. The scholarships are awarded for outstanding academic achievements and above-average social, societal and student commitment, with special consideration given to exceptional personal or family circumstances. The Master's scholarship will be awarded in the summer semester 2024 for the months of April to August 2024 inclusive and amounts to € 600.00 per month. Further information can be found here.

Input and discussion on the topic of "Diverse perspectives on gender equality"
We cordially invite you to an input and discussion in which important terms in the field of gender equality will be explained and then the question of gender equality will be addressed from the perspective of female and male socialization.
The discussion will be led by Steph Krah, Dresden-based cultural practitioner and artistic director of Familia*Futura, festival for family diversity and care utopias and by Sascha Möckel, profeminist men's counselor at Männernetzwerk Dresden e.V.
The input and discussion on the topic of "Diverse perspectives on gender equality" will take place at 1.15 pm in room 236 on the 2nd floor.
LUCA short film tour for gender equality
As part of the Festival of Diversity, we would like to show selected films from the
FILMFEST DRESDEN program that address the diversity of genders and lifestyles. The film program questions stereotypical notions of gender roles, provides insights into the reality of life for queer people and people of color and challenges traditional expectations. It shows: People are diverse and diversity enriches our society.
Film selection: „Cat days“|„Heimweh“|„Und weinen können“
A discussion round is planned after the program. The short films will be shown in German or with English subtitles.
The short films and the subsequent discussion will take place at 2.30 pm in room 236 on the 2nd floor.
Cultural Speeddating
Discover the diversity of world cultures at Cultural Speeddating! Immerse yourself in interactive encounters with international students while introducing your own culture and learning about new traditions. Whether exchanging traditional dances, listening to rousing songs or playing entertaining card games - join in and discover the world in a whole new way!
The cultural speed dating takes place in the foyer on the 1st floor.

Test your knowledge of inclusion and accessibility worldwide in our interactive quiz! Learn about outstanding examples from different countries that show how inclusion and accessibility can be successfully implemented. Take part and discover how a more inclusive world can be created.
