Health Management

As a modern university, Hochschule Mittweida (HSMW) has integrated company health management (CHM) into its organisational structure, which has been further developed since the CHM team was newly appointed in March 2023.

Task

Our task is to promote and maintain the health and well-being of our employees. This involves close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, such as the university management, university sports, health insurance companies, accident insurers and social organisations. In addition, the conceptualisation and provision of a wide range of health promotion measures are an integral part of our mission.

Participation

We pursue a participatory approach to health promotion. This means that the views, interests and suggestions of the employees as the target group of the CHM activities are included in the respective processes.

Prevention

Our focus is on preventive aspects in terms of both posture and behaviour. For example, we not only strengthen the understanding of healthy posture through professional advice, but have also been able to permanently implement a structured process for ergonomic workplace inspections.

Quality

We ensure the quality of our work by continuously evaluating measures and procedures and adapting processes where necessary. We are professionally linked to current standards through further training, dialogue with CHM/SHM officers from other universities and appropriate networking. In addition, our co-operation with AOK PLUS provides us with professional advice on strategic matters.

Outlook for the future

As the university setting represents a living environment not only for employees, but also - and in particular - for students, a student health management (SHM) programme is currently being set up at the HSMW. The project is currently in the conceptual phase. In line with the current nationwide development in health management at universities, the CHM and the SHM, which is still being developed, will be merged into a university-wide health management programme (HGM) in the future.
